Ladies Bible Studies:
Everywhere
around us we hear about “these times” we are living in. It is on
the front page of the paper and on the radio; we talk about it over
coffee, and hear it mentioned in sermons.
Ladies, we ask
ourselves, “what can I do”? Well, one thing we can do, in fact we
must do, is to be grounded in the TRUTH, in God’s Word. We need
not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of
our minds. (Romans 12:2). If we want to not worry, and seek
God’s kingdom (Matthew 6:33-34), we must continue to do the work of
seriously studying God’s Word, and find supernatural power to live for
His kingdom.
With that in mind, we encourage all Heartland
women to be involved in some sort of group Bible study. We have
several offerings beginning in September. Look at the list below,
and ask the Lord if He would have you join us in going deeper, being
firmly established in Him.

3 & 4 Year Olds – Jeri Shepherd
He Established a Testimony – Themes from the Old Testament for Young Children
God
has testified of His glorious deeds and mighty power. This curriculum
explores God's greatness by noting key themes found chronologically
throughout the Old Testament. Bible stories are presented to acquaint
children with a great God whose character never changes.
Kindergarten – Alyssa Hanning
He Has Spoken by His Son – New Testament Stories for Young Children
The
New Testament beautifully unfolds the wonder and power of Jesus Christ.
This curriculum explores the greatness of God in Christ by noting key
themes found chronologically throughout the New Testament. Bible
stories are presented to acquaint children with a great God who has
spoken by His Son.
First Grade – Nyccole Swigart
Jesus, What a Savior! – A Study for Children on Redemption
We
were created to enjoy the glory of God. But as sinners we fail to
treasure Him as we should. Our hearts are full of sin and we stand in
need of a Savior. This chronological study on redemption explores the
incomparable greatness and worth of God, the desperate condition of
helpless sinners, and the all-sufficient work of Jesus Christ to redeem
sinful people.
Second and Third Grade – Steve & Dawn Parris
In the Beginning...Jesus – A Chronological Study for Children of Redemptive History
The
Bible is one complete true story that progressively reveals God's
redemptive plan, which comes to complete fulfillment in the Person and
work of Jesus Christ. The year begins with a historical mystery—Jesus'
death on the cross—and asks the questions: "What really happened here?"
"Why did Jesus die?" and "Who did it?" To find the answers to these
questions, the study goes to the beginning of the Bible narrative in
Genesis and then moves chronologically through the Old Testament text
as students search for clues that foreshadow the coming of Jesus and
His redemptive work on the cross.
Fourth Grade – Eric & Meredith Mork
How Majestic is Your Name – A Study for Children on the Names and Character of God
The
names of God are wonderful revelations of His majestic character. This
study presents the Hebrew names of God in the Old Testament and the
names of Christ and the Holy Spirit in the New Testament. Each lesson
encourages children to see and rejoice in the goodness and greatness of
God as they explore the meaning of His glorious names.
Fifth Grade – Diane Gensch
Show Me Jesus
In
this class students learn how the Bible is God's story of redemption
through Christ. They “connect the dots” of redemptive history through a
survey of the Old Testament.
Genesis: Creation, the fall, the flood, the Abrahamic covenant, the patriarchs and Joseph.
Exodus to Ruth: The redemptive acts of God in dealing with His covenant people.
1 Samuel to Esther: The kings of Israel and Judah, the captivity in Babylon and returned exiles.
Job to Joshua: Songs, proverbs, and prophets.
Sixth Grade – Sabra Parris
Westminster Shorter Catechism
This
class presents challenging lessons based on the Shorter Catechism of
the Westminster Confession of Faith. Applications are aimed at
motivating young people to apply the Word of God to their daily lives.
Topics covered include God’s plan for the world, Adam’s sin and its
consequences, and our duty to God and our fellow man.
High School Sunday School
We
will have a Freshmen Class devoted to the teaching of the basics of the
Christian faith. This will be a class that concentrates on their
relationship with God and man through prayer, God's word, evangelism,
and fellowship. They will then learn the basics of studying the
bible for themselves and finally, using the techniques they just
learned, study a portion of scripture.
Our next class will
be our Sophomore/Junior Class. They will be going through a two
year class on systematic theology. This will consist of a 23
minute DVD presentation on each topic by R. C. Sproul followed by
lively discussion where scripture will be brought to bear on each
topic. This class will be taught by the elders of the church on a
semi-rotating basis. Parents, you do not want your high schoolers
to miss this. We are also working on a six to eight week
Christian History class during this two year cycle.
Finally,
we are very excited about our Senior Class. This will be a
two-part class. This fall we will be studying
Creation/Evolution. In numerous surveys of evangelical youth the
Creation/Evolution topic is given as the cause for our youth to
question or doubt their faith. This class is all about preparing
our youth to meet this challenge head on. We are also very
excited about our spring semester as we will be guiding our senior
class in a discussion of presuppositional apologetics. This class
is designed to further strengthen the faith of our high schoolers as
they prepare for college and/or work. We will also have several
lessons on how to deal with various cults. The Teaching Ministry
of Heartland is very excited about these class offerings and hope you
will be as well.
Middle School – Wednesdays 6:30 PM
High School – Wednesdays 6:30 PM
