The Mission of Heartland Community Church is:
to Glorify God as we equip His people
to share the reality of Jesus with the world.
Our mission can be summarized in two passages of Scripture:
Colossians 1:28: “We proclaim Him, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone complete in Christ.”
Matthew 28:18-20: “And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Socially Responsible
At Heartland Community Church we are committed to the Bible as our only foundation for faith and practice and through that commitment to God’s Word and with the help of the Holy Spirit, we will strive to fulfill our mission by implementing these eight essential practices:
Obedience -- Jesus said, “I will build My church” (Matthew
16:18). We acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the builder of Heartland Community
Church. We desire to be obedient to all He commands and are committed
to the truth of Scripture above the traditions of men. We desire to pass
on the faith and raise up the next generation of believers. We believe
that the only way to maintain order within the church is to take our orders
from the head: Jesus Christ.
Worship -- At Heartland, we are committed to worship
God according to the teaching of Scripture. Worship demonstrates the presence
and power of God. Worship choruses, traditional hymns of the faith, dynamic,
relevant Biblical preaching, Scripture reading and creeds come together
in uplifting worship for the believer while being sensitive to those still
investigating the claims of Jesus Christ. We are committed to teaching
about and observing the Sacraments of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We
are committed to worship our God in spirit and truth.
Prayer -- Prayer is action. E.M. Bounds said, “Prayer
is not preparation for the battle, prayer IS the battle.” We realize our
greatest work is accomplished as we come before the Father in prayer.
James 4:2 says, “You do not have because you do not ask.” Heartland is
committed to nurturing both individual and corporate prayer.
Evangelism -- We must reach the world starting right
in our own town! Jesus said, “Open your eyes and look at the fields! They
are ripe for harvest” (John 4:35). Heartland is committed to help believers
reach their network of friends, neighbors and co-workers through honest,
open relationships. We are cultivating a heart for the harvest. It is
our goal that each believer be equipped to give a clear, concise, compelling
witness to the person of Jesus Christ.
Community -- We desire to truly love and serve one another
as we grow into a community of faith. Offering a variety of formats and
meeting times provides an excellent opportunity to develop significant
and meaningful relationships together. They provide a place where you
can find strength and support and build intimacy, accountability and care.
We want others to look at us and say that we are truly Christ’s disciples
because we love one another.
Ministry -- At Heartland, we believe that God uniquely
designed each person and has given at least one spiritual gift to each
believer to be used for service within the church of Christ (1 Peter 4:10).
We are committed to helping you discover and develop your spiritual gift.
Then, you will be assisted in selecting an area of ministry compatible
with that gift. Whatever area you choose to be involved in, the results
are the same: an opportunity, responsibility and freedom to minister to
others.
Stewardship -- Heartland is committed to honoring God
by teaching and modeling the biblical principles of management and stewardship.
People want to give of their time, talents and financial resources to
something they believe in. Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there
will your heart be also.” Our goal is to be good and faithful stewards
of the good things entrusted to us by God; our time, our talent, and our
treasure.
Missions -- At Heartland we take world missions seriously.
Jesus told His disciples to “Go into all the world and make disciples
of all nations” (Matthew 28:18-20). This Great Commission motivates us
to disciple the entire world. We will support mission projects locally
and abroad and provide short term mission trips to give our members first
hand experience on the mission field. We will commit a significant portion
of our overall budget to ministries outside of our own local church. As
Heartland grows, we are committed to start new, daughter churches throughout
the Wichita area, North America and the World.
