Dear Heartland Community Church,
We are about to enter into Phase II at Heartland. The attached guidelines will take effect Sunday, May 17. Some highlights include:
1. We will now open Heartland’s sanctuary for in-person worship with onsite overflow LiveStream areas as needed. We will continue to offer LiveStream for those who desire to stay home or need to stay home due to health concerns.
2. Men's and Women’s Ministries may begin to meet in small groups for fellowship and Bible study. They should follow Heartland’s social distancing and health guidelines as much as possible. If distancing is not able to be maintained, they should follow the current county gathering limit.
Some may be concerned that we are planning to enter Phase II on May 17th despite the fact that Governor Kelly just announced the state will only be going to a new Phase 1.5 on Monday, May 18th, and Phase 2 on June 1st at the earliest. Rest assured, the changes that we are implementing for "Heartland’s Phase II" are compliant with all Phase 1 (and 1.5) requirements of the state and Sedgwick County. We do not need to delay until next month.
As we continue to wrestle with a dynamic and ever changing situation in our state, county, and church, there could be times that, as a church, we might need to move back to a more restrictive phase. We pray that this will not happen, but the COVID-19 Response Team is prepared to make that hard decision if the health and well-being of our church and community is at risk. We will keep a close eye on the COVID-19 crisis in our city, state, and church body. If that decision is made, we will communicate that decision to you with clear guidelines.
If you are planning to attend in-person worship this Sunday and have not completed the survey, please help us anticipate your presence by completing the survey here. Look for another email soon containing important details about attending in-person worship.
We are grateful for your involvement at Heartland, we care about you and your family and we can’t wait to see you in person one day soon.
Your Response Team,
David, John, Tom, Phil, Chris and Richard
