What is Youth @ Heartland?
At Heartland, we aim to shepherd and disciple our students into the likeness of Jesus. To do this, youth leaders seek to embody the gospel in our lives as we try to model the sacrificial life and love of Jesus. This ethos serves to foster a learning environment that reminds students they are valued more than their achievements, abilities, or appearances.

Welcome to Youth @ Heartland!

We know a Christian's sanctification is a process and a guarantee, and we are committed to encouraging students to “play” in the gospel; it’s a philosophy that supports them in developing their faith freely without fearing they have the wrong answers, especially when they have questions or doubts! We desire that they come to fully know that life’s purpose is to bring God glory by reflecting His image. To pursue these goals, we rely on God’s Spirit working in students' hearts and seek to stay faithful to Bible exposition, prayer, worship, community life, and lots of fun!
Youth Group
Sunday Mornings
When school is in session
On Sundays during the school year, students meet at 9:00 am for an engaging and robust study. Our spring session will be using a book called Encountering Jesus-Tim Keller. We will explore how Jesus engaged with people and what we can learn from how he related to people like you and me.
Wednesday Nights
When school is in session
In our midweek meetings, we see our friends, who are also our brothers and sisters in Christ. This weekly event is designed to build community among students in a way that builds them up in community and is not meant as a replacement for Sunday worship. Wednesday nights consist of a game followed by a time of singing, messages, and small groups. Small group times are where students get to spend quality time with others their age to discuss the message and share prayer requests.
Evangelism Training
When school is in session
As a part of a collaborative relationship with CRU’s ministry at WSU, we learn how they evangelize on campus. A few youth and I engage in spiritual conversations with WSU students weekly, fostering growth for all involved.
6th through 12th grade
Getting out and about is good for us to see some “different country” than what we are used to. To do this, we go in large groups to concerts, school performances, hockey and baseball games, Top Golf, and other fun and affordable events.
Monthly Hangouts
Year-round
Simply put, an hour of Bible study and prayer, followed by an hour in the pool! These times are when all students stay connected throughout the summer. We truly value the community of Heartland Community Church, and we cherish times like this to read Scripture, have some fun, and experience Jesus's love in community with His people.
Summer Bible Studies
Mid-May through July
These are great summer connection times when we get together for a couple of hours to play some games in the park, like ultimate frisbee (and other variations called “Pig Skin”) and other team sports. We then enjoy a break in the splash pad before hanging out some more and praying for each other.

Contact Jeremy Houser, Director, Youth & Outreach

Hi, my name is Jeremy Houser, I'm originally from Central Kansas near Salina but have lived in Western Kansas near Colorado for the past 5 years. I absolutely love being outside and doing anything physically taxing, if I was an animal I would be a draft horse! I love Jesus because he called me out of the darkness into light and saved me for a purpose. Part of that purpose is getting to serve with the youth and help them bring cohesiveness to what they know about Jesus and the Bible! Something interesting most people don't know about me, I am still driving my first vehicle that I bought 20 years ago!
