Children's Ministry
Believing that God has revealed Himself and His will for the church in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, and that the children of believing parents are included in the covenant community of the church, we seek to communicate the gospel through our words and actions as we partner with families in the discipleship of their children from birth through 5th grade. Our covenant children are valuable and necessary members of the body who we have the privilege of listening to and learning from as we form lifelong relationships.

Programming
Acknowledging that the family is the primary context for the spiritual nurture of children, we aim to reinforce and supplement the discipleship of covenant children through impactful intergenerational relationships in ministries such as Sunday school, Worshippers in Training (WIT), and Vacation Bible School, while also providing resources, prayer, and support for families as they train children in the love of the Lord. We do this all in dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit, trusting and hoping in the work of Christ, knowing that the Father has called a people to Himself.
Nursery
On Sunday mornings, the nursery is available for children ages birth through 2 years old during the Sunday school hour and worship service.
Children's Sunday School
Three years through 5th grade
Children ages 3 years old through 5th grade are invited to participate in Sunday school. 3 through 5 year olds use The Show Me Jesus curriculum and are currently learning about how God’s redeeming acts in Exodus anticipate the saving work of Christ. Kindergarten through 5th graders use The Biggest Story Curriculum to see how all of God’s word fits together. We are currently learning about the Prophets.
Worshiper's In Training
Three and four-year-olds
During the worship service, 3 and 4 year olds are invited to attend Worshippers in Training. Just before the sermon begins, these children gather together to sing, pray, and read a Bible story as they grow in their understanding of what it means to worship God and participate in the service.

Contact Katie Hardy, Children's Ministry Coordinator

Hi, my name is Katie Hardy. I am thankful to have parents who brought me up to know that God is real and he loves me. During my senior year of college, I sensed God’s call into vocational ministry. I was on staff with a campus ministry for over a decade before coming to work at Heartland. I studied Behavioral Psychology at the University of Kansas and will complete a master’s degree in Theological Studies from Covenant Theological Seminary in Spring 2025. I believe that children are a gift from God and that they were created to worship him!
I am married to my high school sweetheart David, and we have 4 children – Roosevelt, Violet, George, and Richard. I enjoy coaching soccer, playing board games, reading, and drinking a good cup of coffee.
