Missions
At Heartland, we view Outreach & Missions as a task of all believers. Through the leadership of elders and our missions committee, we aim to lead the Heartland community toward living out our vision to be a church where “We Serve the World.” We will engage members in the advancement of the Kingdom of God, both near and far, by sharing the Gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit with lost persons and by reflecting the beauty and holiness of Christ to lost cultures who have been broken by sin.​
Heartland's Missions Team
Heartland’s missions team exists to see people engage in the Great Commission so that every tribe, tongue, people and nation may come to worship Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord.
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28 18-20
Strategy for Missions at Heartland:

Prayer: Pray for our missionaries in specific and knowledgeable ways that address their struggle, successes, and the goals of their mission.

Educate: Raise up our children and educate adults to know and have relationships with our missionaries and understand missionary trends in the world.

Care: Provide spiritual, emotion, physical, and financial care and support for our missionaries.

Mobilize: Identify, help train, and send out missionaries locally, regionally and globally to share the Gospel with the lost

How to Pray for Missionaries
Pray For Their Ministry
So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.
I Corinthians 10:31

Pray that the missionary’s ministry and attitude will be worthy of acceptance.

Pray that colleagues and fellow believers will be supportive.
Pray For God's Guidance
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Colossians 1:9

Pray for clear guidance and wisdom from God regarding all decisions.
Pray For Open Doors
Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the Word, to declare the mystery of Christ.
Colossians 4:2-3

Pray that God will open doors for ministry, blessing partnerships and friendships.

Pray that those who serve will be led by the Holy Spirit and recognize open-door opportunities.

Pray that God will lead His people past barriers, to hearts ready to receive His Word.
Pray For Boldness in Witness
Pray also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the Gospel.
Ephesians 6:19

Pray that missionaries will have boldness to overcome fears of embarrassment or failure.

Pray that the Spirit will provide them with words that communicate effectively in other cultures and languages.

Pray against evil forces that would seek to hinder the spread of the Gospel.
Pray For Refreshment
May you be strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy.
Colossians 1:11

Pray that God will provide opportunities for missionaries in lonely times and areas to spend time with other believers.

Pray that God will provide times of peace and relaxation to refresh His workers.
-
Pray that God will encourage missionaries with the knowledge that people back home care about their emotional well-being.
Pray For Protection
And that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith.
I Thessalonians 3:2

Pray that God will keep Christian workers safe from those who seek to harm them.

Pray that God will change the hearts of those who are unfamiliar with or resistant to His Word.
